Artists Statement:
Art can be many things. It can be provocative, exciting, inspirational, or controversial. My goal is to produce a painting which evokes beauty and a sense of soft realism. A viewer of one of my landscapes one stated that “I want to be there”. Another person said that “ I want to walk into the painting.” This is exactly what I want to capture in my work, not tension, or any significant message, but a beauty and serenity
that appeals to the eye of the observer. My favorite subjects are landscapes and waterscapes, because I find beauty and emotional appeal in nature, and it is always challenging to capture its allure.
Watercolor is the perfect medium for my style of painting.. I find that watercolor is almost magical, because I can never be exactly sure what it will do. This can lead to exciting and surprising results in a painting. My usual techniques involve painting wet into wet to achieve a soft look. Sometimes I pour paint, mist the painting
0r use salt for special effects. All of my work is original. I work from photos taken by me or friends, or from my imagination.
My favorite waltercolorist is Nita Engle, a landscape artist. I think her work is beautiful and amazing.
About the Gallery:
Most paintings are done on Arches 140# watercolor paper. They are matted in acid free mats, usually with a 2 ½” or 3 ½” border, depending on the size of the painting. The size refers to the matted picture. Pictures may be purchased matted and framed or matted only. Commisions may also be accepted. Please contact Bonnie at the email on this website.
